Working Principle
The instrument’s measurement principle conforms to the standard GB 11893-89 “Water Quality – Determination of Total Phosphorus – Ammonium Molybdate Spectrophotometric Method”. For total phosphorus analysis, the sample is first thoroughly mixed with potassium persulfate and subjected to sealed, high-temperature, high-pressure digestion. This process oxidizes all forms of phosphorus present in the sample into orthophosphate. In an acidic medium, the orthophosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate and potassium antimonyl tartrate to form a phosphomolybdate heteropoly acid. This compound is then reduced by the reducing agent, ascorbic acid, to form a blue complex. The phosphorus content in the sample is determined by photometrically measuring the absorbance of this reaction product.
