Working Principle
The instrument’s measurement principle conforms to the standard HJ 536-2009 “Water Quality – Determination of Ammonia Nitrogen – Salicylate Spectrophotometric Method”. After the water sample is mixed with a masking agent, ammonia nitrogen present as free ammonia or ammonium ions reacts with salicylate and hypochlorite ions in an alkaline medium and in the presence of a catalyst, forming a colored complex. The analyzer detects this color change, converts it into an ammonia nitrogen concentration value for output. The amount of colored complex formed is directly proportional to the amount of ammonia nitrogen.
